Hey T,
Well here is the beastie girl in her new home. First
picture is me playing with her at Newark Int'l
airport -- you can see how traumatized she was by
the flight - HA! Too bad my friend didn't get the
one of her when I was kneeling on one knee and she
took of it the opposite direction and knocked me off
balance - I have grass stains to prove it. Karen was
laughing too hard at me to take a picture. The next
one is her after she rearranged where she thought
the dog bed should be and scooped up several toys.
Last one is her in the yard - it's still raining
here from Hurricane Ernesto - but she doesn't care.
Today is being spent letting her explore the house.
She is going to make sure I start to be a better
housekeeper - she picks up everything she can reach
and trots around with it. Shoes, socks, paper,
books, hangers off the doorknob - it doesn’t matter.
She's got a good strong bark - which is audible even
with a ball in her mouth!!! She's not sure what to
make of the cats and her and my Dobe - well they are
giving each other some space. That will work out by
tomorrow I'm thinking.
Baby gates are something that are either meant to be
knocked down or jumped over -- obviously not for
keeping her in one room- silly me. I have a landing
with three steps that come into the kitchen - I put
the gate up so she'd stay in the kitchen with me -
she jumped from the kitchen floor - knocked it flat
to where it was overhanging the steps - went on
whatever mission she was on at that point, then
(this was so cool) she walked over the baby gate
which went down like a teeter and she hit the bottom
step and kept going. Just like she had it planned
that way! I have a sheepskin pelt on the couch and
she was running thru the house dragging that - it's
bigger than her. She's going in and out of places I
wouldn't think she could fit but its not bothering
her a bit.
Tomorrow - out to meet some of the world. I'm
exploring a few new names - Golda doesn't seem to
really fit her personality -- I'll keep you posted
on what I decide and her doings.

Just
finished tracking. One of his favorite
parts of the day. Obedience is next, and
bite work this afternoon. Twice a week
bite work is about all I can arrange,
but tracking and obedience is everyday,
the later twice a day, with several big
runs a day. I live on 35 acres and he is
so responsive to me, I can trust him off
line. He sails around like a big puppy,
exploring everything. Every thing is of
interest to him. I work at a large
training center so he and my female go
with me everyday. He is exposed to a
complex social environment there which
keeps up his great social skills. I take
him into the classes I don't teach to
help him learn to focus on me and ignore
the other dogs. My female will be coming
into season in the next few months.
Might be interesting. He's young, but
not stupid! Love my boy, never worry
about him. If anyone on this side needs
reference help in dealing with you
folks, please give them my email. I
could certainly encourage them to know
how caring and complete you are.
